YouTube has recently made moves to show that they want ads to appear more, such as changing the rule to allow videos under 8 minutes to also place ads instead of having to be at least 10 minutes as before.
Users are angry when YouTube is conducting a test to run 5 ads each time on the video instead of 2 as before.
“Annoying and annoying. YouTube used to advertise heavily in every video but now it’s worse,” one user wrote on Twitter.
Many users’ “disgusting” reactions stem from the fact that they constantly receive up to several ads when watching YouTube videos with a free account. These ads do not have a ” skip option” but must wait until they run out before continuing to watch the main content of the video.
Showing up to 5 ads is being tested with certain users.
“YouTube forces users to buy Premium packages? There are so many ads, I don’t want to watch YouTube videos anymore” – another user commented.
Similarly, another account asked a question like … “disgruntled”: “Each YouTube video shows 5 long and non-skippable ads. Should I just turn the video off or what?”
YouTube normally only shows 2 ads in each video appearance. The first ad duration is about 6 seconds and the second about 30 seconds, but there is a “skip option” from the sixth second on.
Previously ads in YouTube videos also appeared only in certain locations or in the middle of the video as small banner ads that did not affect viewers.
However, in the past few years, ads have appeared anywhere on YouTube, especially in long videos that are frustrating for users. Also, the ad is repeated over and over again. Even having too long content or introducing inappropriate products makes viewers uncomfortable.
In the context of many users’ reactions, YouTube representatives admitted they were testing a new feature “buffer ads”. The company emphasizes that each of the 5 ads lasts only 5 seconds, which means the whole thing does not exceed 30 seconds.
“YouTube’s experiment seems to be on a small scale and is mainly aimed at collecting user reactions,” said technology site GizChina .
