A 16-year-old girl of the Hmong ethnic group in the mountainous province of Ha Giang that borders China is Vietnam’s latest Covid-19 patient.
“Patient 268,” as she is now tagged, lives in a remote village of Dong Van District in Ha Giang and is the first Covid-19 case detected in Ha Giang so far.
She has three brothers working as freelancers in China. She started to have Covid-19 symptoms of fever, cough, and breathing difficulties on April 7 and was sent to Dong Van District General Hospital for quarantine. VNExpress, a local media reports.
Later, she tested positive. Now she is undergoing treatment for the disease caused by the new coronavirus at the hospital.
This girl has brought the number of infections in Vietnam to 268. Of whom, 98 are active cases and 171 have been discharged from hospital.

On Wednesday, it was decided that the social distancing campaign in Vietnam will continue until April 22 in Hanoi, HCMC and 10 other localities deemed to be at high risk of Covid-19 spread, including Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, and Ninh Binh provinces in the north; Da Nang City and Quang Nam, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, and Ha Tinh provinces in the central region and Tay Ninh Province in the south.

The Covid-19 pandemic’s death toll has jumped to 134,300 after it has spread to 210 countries and territories.
