Vietnam recorded 95 local Covid-19 cases Sunday morning, including 22 employees at a Ho Chi Minh City frontline coronavirus hospital.
The northern province of Bac Ninh got 34 cases, 33 of whom are related to an industrial park in Khac Niem District and one was detected through contact tracing.
All 32 cases in neighboring Bac Giang Province have been isolated prior to the test results. All cases are related to clusters at its industrial parks.
HCMC recorded 25 cases, including three who had come into close contact with previously confirmed patients.
The other 22 patients are IT staff and administrators of HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases who were detected after one of them came to work with Covid symptoms on Friday and later tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The hospital was locked down Saturday following the discovery of the cases, but will still perform Covid-19 testing and treat existing coronavirus patients.
Lang Son Province in northern Vietnam reported two cases related to a cluster at Quang Chau industrial park in Bac Giang.
The case in Hanoi is a 65-year-old resident of Dong Anh District while the case in northern Phu Tho is a 76-year-old woman who is associated with a cluster at a market in Hanoi’s Dong Anh District. Both have been quarantined following contact tracing.
Since April 27 when the new wave started, Vietnam has recorded 7,135 infections in 39 of the nation’s 63 cities and provinces.
Bac Giang and Bac Ninh suffer the most infections, at 3,948 and 1,323, followed by HCMD with 719 and Hanoi with 458, according to VNExpress.
