Budget airline VietJet ranked among the leading three companies on the nation’s stock exchanges in 2019, following the announcement of the Top 50 of “Vietnam’s Best-performing Companies” during a ceremony recently held in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event was held with the aim of honouring the country’s leading enterprises, with some of the many prestigious names on the Vietnamese stock market being featured, such as VietJet, Mobile World, and Vietcombank.
According to the results released during the ceremony, VietJet’s SR-CAGR and ROE rose by 23% and 45%, respectively. With the firm’s market capitalization reaching US$2.23 billion, the airline is also among the largest capitalised enterprises featured on the national stock market.
Since first going public on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange in 2017, VietJet has consistently maintained a place among the best three performing companies, therefore contributing to receiving the honourable award.
Last year saw VietJet continue to retain its leading position in the nation’s domestic market with the total number of transported passengers reaching 25 million, making it among the top airlines in the Asia-Pacific region whilst enjoying a leading technical reliability rate. The airline has also been awarded the highest ranking possible in terms of aviation safety, with a seven-star rating from AirlineRatings.com.
Moreover, VietJet have frequently been honoured with several prestigious international awards, such as a place among the Top 500 of “Asia’s Leading Brand”, the world’s 50 best airlines for healthy financing and operations by AirFinance Journal, and a place among the Top 50 of the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2020”.
Following the recovery of the domestic aviation market, VietJet swiftly moved to launch the “Returning to the sky” campaign by opening eight new domestic route, thereby expanding the domestic flight network to 53 routes. Most notably, VietJet Thailand was the first airline to resume operations from Phuket Airport in Thailand, whilst also opening five new domestic routes throughout Thailand.
Whilst the impact of the novel coronavirus has severely hit airlines globally, VietJet is one of the few to have successfully maintained stable operations with many effective resource management solutions. It is been able to take advantage of social distancing in order to organise training and development programmes aimed at improving technical skills for employees.
“Vietnam’s 50 Best Performing Companies” is widely considered to be a prestigious and reputable ranking that is conducted annually in consultation with leading economic and business experts. The list evaluates the results of businesses from companies over three consecutive years, based on revenue and return on equity, in addition to earnings per share.
