Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested a woman for robbing a local bank of more than US$90,000 before running away in a taxi.
Officers under the municipal Department of Police confirmed on Saturday evening they had apprehended P.T. Thang, who is in her 20s, who had committed the robbery at a Techcombank branch on Truong Vinh Ky Street in Tan Phu District earlier the same day.
According to preliminary information, Thang, dressed in a cap, face mask, and sunglasses arrived at the branch in a cab at 12:30 pm.
She told the driver to park opposite the venue and wait for her.
Thang walked into the bank, placed a bag on the table, and said there was a bomb in it.

She told the staff to put money into her bag, threatening to detonate the explosive otherwise.
After taking approximately VND2.1 billion ($90,800), she ran outside and got away in the waiting taxi.
The incident was promptly reported to local authorities, before officers of Tan Phu District’s police unit and the city’s police department launched an investigation and hunted for the suspect.
They were able to capture Thang and the stolen money at 3:00 pm on the same day.
