Tet is the celebration of Vietnamese New Year, the country’s biggest holiday and their first day of the spring, based on the lunar calendar.
As a traveller, you might not need to get all the Vietnamese’ excitement and emotions, though there are certain things that you probably should know about.
At least you should have an idea about the celebrations at the hotel, which you will stay in your upcoming holiday in Vietnam with this grandest event of the year.
We’ve put together a round-up of Tet celebrations at hotels across Vietnam, which you may need to know.
Alma Resort Cam Ranh
Chung cake making, a vibrant night market brimming with Tet wares and fare, dinner with singing cooks and waiters, dragon dancing and calligraphy giving are among the rich range of festivities on offer at Alma Resort to celebrate the Year of the Ox. The program begins on Lunar New Year’s Eve with an excursion to a nearby pagoda, wet markets and flower farm to showcase how locals prepare for Tet. Guests will try their hand at making Chung cakes before the resort’s night market brims with foods such as skewers, spring rolls and banh mi, desserts, drinks, gifts and toys. Alma Garden will host a “reunion” buffet, live band and fire dancing and La Casa’s a la carte menu will be complemented by Alma’s “Singing Cooks and Waiters” who will belt out a medley of popular songs before the countdown begins. Throughout the program, the resort will serve Tet buffet breakfast and stage dragon dances, cooking classes, games such as pick the lucky envelope and bamboo dancing, and kite, watermelon-eating and giant chess competitions. More details can be found here.
