President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan presented gifts from President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to senior leaders of AFC during the meeting of the FIFA Council and the AFC Standing Committee in Qatar.
Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa is present at the World Football Federation Council (FIFA) and AFC Standing Committee meeting held in Qatar from April 28 to April 1. Attending also were officials representing the continent’s member football federations , including acting VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said: ” AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and other countries congratulated the Vietnamese team ‘s achievements in the match against Japan in the final round of the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup. The official confirmed that the Vietnamese team played resiliently and surprised the Japanese team at the away field.
The AFC President also highly appreciated the recent progress of Vietnamese football when the Vietnamese women’s football team won tickets to the World Cup 2022 . In particular, the Vietnamese team drew against Japan, with one win left in the third qualifying round of the World Cup and was the only representative of regional football to have a win against China.

On this occasion, VFF Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan gave AFC President a gift from President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Mr. Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa. AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa approved Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, thanking President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Also attending the important meeting of FIFA and AFC in Qatar, AFC General Secretary Windsor John emphasized to acting VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan that Vietnam’s draw against Japan was the biggest surprise of the second qualifying round. 3 World Cup 2022 and is the driving force for Southeast Asian countries to strive.
