A man in the northern Vietnamese province of Thai Nguyen was purportedly killed by his father after he came home high on meth and began yelling and swearing at his parents.
The victim is T.M.C., 23, while the murder suspect is his own father, 47-year-old Tran Van Hung, local police confirmed on Tuesday.
A preliminary investigation showed that C., who was unemployed, previously pawned his mother’s cellphone on Sunday.
On the following day, he continued to pawn the family’s motorbike and spent the money on personal purposes.
At around 1:00 am on Tuesday, C. came home and showed signs of being high on crystal meth.
He began swearing at and provoking his parents.
Hung, the father, became so infuriated that he attacked his son with a knife.
C. was seriously injured but managed to run away.
Local residents found C.’s body on a nearby street at around 5:00 am on the same day.
Hung turned himself in to local police later that morning.
He has been taken into custody to assist in the investigation.
