Police in Vietnam have swooped on a karaoke parlor in the southern part of the country where female attendants were caught stripping to service customers.
Officers raided on Saturday the Y Ngan karaoke parlor, owned by Mai Thi Kieu, 59, in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province, local police said on Sunday.
Customers filled three of the parlor’s rooms, in two of which seven female attendants were singing and dancing unclothed with the men in dim light.
Kieu could not present a business license while the attendants failed to produce any work contract.
An attendant who had been working for Y Ngan for six months said that they were given a tip of VND300,000 (US$13) each time they served guests in the parlor.
Dancing unclad with the guests would earn them an extra VND200,000 ($8.7), she continued, adding that Kieu charged the customers VND1 million ($43) for each crate of beer, about five times the normal price.
The owner had installed security alarms and built a back door in attempts to avoid detection.
She would trigger the alarm system and the women would escape through the back door whenever there was a police check.
