The investor of the current public bicycle system in Ho Chi Minh City is expected to add electric vehicles when entering phase 2 of the project.
Mr. Do Ba Dan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tri Nam Group Joint Stock Company (the investor of the Ho Chi Minh City public bicycle project) has just announced that the company has imported 2 public electric bicycles, which are being tested in Ha Noi.
Electric bicycles are expected to be deployed in Ho Chi Minh City
In terms of design, the bike is painted in blue color similar to the public bicycle system that Tri Nam is deploying in some localities, including Ho Chi Minh City. Initial preliminary assessment, the car runs well, smoothly.
If the proposal is approved by the Department of Transport and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Tri Nam Group is expected to expand this model in phase 2 of the public bicycle project in Ho Chi Minh City, after 1 year of testing.
Previously, the business had also proposed in writing to the City Department of Transport to allow the expansion of public bicycle services to neighboring areas of District 1 such as Thu Duc City, Districts 3, 7, Binh Thanh, and Phu Nhuan. At the same time, priority should be given to expanding this service in the area around metro line 1 station and bus routes.
Ho Chi Minh City officially opened a pilot public bicycle service in the central area on December 16, 2021. During this period, Tri Nam Group invested 388 vehicles arranged in 43 locations in District 1 and along the project to organize priority lanes for buses on Dien Bien Phu and Vo Thi Sau streets (District 3).
According to statistics, 100% of the day there are guests using public bicycles. In the early morning and late afternoon to evening, the number of vehicles used is always more than 50%, especially central stations such as Nguyen Hue, Ham Nghi, Vincom … often run out of bicycles.
