Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City on February 18 announced a list of hotels and attractions, which are eligible to welcome foreign tourists arriving in the city in the coming time.
According to the City’s Department of Tourism, most of the hotels located in district 1, 3 and 5, including:
- Rex Hotel
- Sheraton Saigon Hotel,
- InterCotinental Saigon Hotel,
- Liberty Central Saigon Citypoint,
- Liberty Central Saigon Center Riverside,
- Liberty Central Saigon Center,
- Vien Dong Hotel,
- Silverland Sakyo,
- Windsor Plaza Hotel
- Equatorial Hotel
- Novotel Saigon Center
- Ramana Saigon
- Eastin Grand Saigon
To be eligible for serving foreign visitors, the hotels have to strictly comply with COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control regulations and other rules in line with the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as the municipal People’s Committee, according to a representative of the City’s Department of Tourism, adding that the hotels are chosen based on the basis of voluntary registration.
Before the pandemic, the city welcomed over 8.6 million foreign visitors in 2019, which is equivalent to nearly half the total foreign arrivals in Vietnam.

The local authorities also announced six attractions, which allowed to welcome back foreign tourists, they are:
- the Central Post Office,
- Ho Chi Minh Museum,
- Ao dai Museum,
- Cu Chi Tunnels,
- Sac Forest Tourism Area
- Saigon Skydeck Observatory in Bitexco Financial Tower.
In related news, Nguyen Khoa Luan, Director of Anh Viet Hop on-Hop off Vietnam Company, has proposed using double-decker buses to transport passengers from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to lessen the overloading.

In a written document that has been submitted to the City’s Department of Tourism, he said the company will support the transportation of visitors from the airport to the city centre. The double-decker buses can operate from 8am to 5pm every day and a bus can carry a maximum of 80 passengers, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The tourism ministry has eased restrictions for tourists arriving in Vietnam under an ongoing vaccine passport trial program before full tourism reopening in mid-March.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued new guidelines Thursday in welcoming back foreign arrivals, effective from now until March 15, which allowed foreign tourists and overseas Vietnamese to arrive in Vietnam on regular commercial flights, instead of only charter flights.
