The start of every new season in football is a synonym for friendly matches and world tours from the best clubs in the world.
And the Premier League is a competition that knows how to fully take advantage of the organization of friendly matches in exotic destinations.
It’s one of the main components of the internationalization project of the Premier League: bringing English clubs to their loyal foreign fans. It’s estimated that only 10% of the total fans of the Big 6 teams (Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Spurs) will ever get to attend a game in their home stadium. This means that there’s still a 90% market share to cover, and that’s the main objective of summer tours.
These are the plans for the top teams in the Premier League. Who knows, maybe you’re lucky enough to catch some of the clubs near your location!
Arsenal:
The Gunners will start their summer adventures in Nuremberg, Germany, a very discreet destination to kick off their 22-23 season. They will face FC Nurnberg, a club playing in the second division of Germany on July 8.
A few days later they will cross the Atlantic to start their USA tour, where they will spend most of their pre-season. The first stop will be Baltimore on the 16th of July with a game against fellow Premier League team Everton. Then they will take part in the Florida Cup Series with games in Orlando against local club Orlando City from the MLS and Chelsea in the Exploria Stadium on the 20th of July and Camping World Stadium on the 23rd of July respectively.
Arsenal will end their pre-season with the traditional Emirates Cup in their stadium against Sevilla.
Chelsea:
Chelsea will return to training at the end of June with a trip to the USA scheduled for the 9th of July.
The story around Chelsea’s tour in the USA is that it will happen weeks after an American consortium bought the club from the Russian magnate Roman Abramovich. The pre-season plans were made before the takeover and will result in a good coincidence.
Chelsea will spend a week training in Los Angeles before the first game against Mexican club America on the 16th of July in Las Vegas. Then, they will fly off to Charlotte to play against Charlotte FC and will end their American experience with a London derby against Arsenal. It’s their first tour of the USA in six years.
Liverpool:
Liverpool is coming to Asia again for the first time since their last visit to Hong Kong in 2017 and you can expect a big matchup against rivals Manchester United in Bangkok on the 12th of July. 3 days later, they will travel to Singapore for a friendly against Crystal Palace.
These games represent the perfect opportunity for neighboring fans in Vietnam to attend a game of English powerhouses. Premier League is the most popular football league in Vietnam with K+ pay-television holding the broadcast rights for the country until 2025. The Premier League’s popularity can be seen in other businesses such as any football betting site (trang cá cược bóng đá) offering odds for every Premier League game and attracting millions of fans looking to complement their passion for football with betting games that allow them to capitalize on monetary prizes. New subscribers can even expect welcome bonuses and reviews of the best betting sites to choose the best bookmaker that suits their interests.
Manchester United:
United will add to their game against Liverpool in Bangkok a tour in Australia consisting of three friendly matches. Two in Melbourne, the 15th of July against Melbourne Victory and the 19th of July against Crystal Palace, and one more in Perth against Aston Villa on the 23rd of July.
Rumors have even circulated that United will share a charter flight with Liverpool to get to Thailand for their first game.
The Red Devils will end their pre-season with a game against Atletico de Madrid in Oslo.
Manchester City:
Citizens will be going to the USA for their pre-season preparations and will be facing German giants Bayern Munich in the legendary Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers of the NFL on the 24th of July.
3 days earlier, they have a friendly game scheduled against Club America in Houston, where it’s expected that recent star signings Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez will take part in the traveling squad.
There’s still an unconfirmed friendly match against Barcelona at the Camp Nou when they return from the USA.
Tottenham Hotspur:
Spurs are the third Premier League club of the Big Six to be going to Asia this summer.
South Korean striker Heung-Min Son will be visiting his country with his club to play a game against a K League stars team on the 13th of July and then another friendly in Suwon against Spanish club Sevilla.
They will continue their pre-season arrangements with a game against Rangers at Ibrox on the 23rd of July and a game against former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho and his Roma squad on the 30th of July in Israel.
