Suoi Thau steppe (Ha Giang) is a destination that attracts tourists who love to travel with its poetic autumn scenery, compared to “Switzerland steppe in the heart of Ha Giang”. This place is located about 5 km from Coc Pai town, Xin Man district, Ha Giang province and at an altitude of over 1,200 m above sea level. Suoi Thau has a wild and rustic beauty but no less majestic.

Each season, Suoi Thau steppe brings a different impressive landscape picture. In spring, rapeseed flowers bloom. In summer, the green color of corn fields and rice fields makes visitors extremely cool.
Autumn is a time of interference: the rice is ripe and golden, the triangle of buckwheat at the beginning of the season blooms, creating a feeling of lightness and poetry. In the winter, visitors can see the triangular buckwheat fields interspersed with rows of sandalwood rising in the middle of the vast steppe.

Suoi Thau is about 150 km west of Ha Giang city. The road is quite winding but beautiful. However, visitors need to follow the map carefully to find the way to the steppe. This part of the road starts to get more difficult: the first part is full of small rocks, easy to slip the wheels; The back section is a concrete road but many steep and winding slopes.
“I hire local people to guide and drive to ensure safety,” Le Huyen said. “The scenery at Suoi Thau is much more beautiful than in the photos, dreamy, poetic, majestic. Looking through the photos, tourists often imagine about the European steppe, but when they come to the place, they can fully feel the features. The beauty of the highlands of Ha Giang with buckwheat triangles, terraced fields, cool climate…”, Huyen revealed.

The climate in Suoi Thau steppe is cool. In the early morning, visitors can hunt the sea of clouds covering the mountains and hills. Evening is a beautiful sunset.

On the steppe, the Mong people often grow food crops such as rice, corn, medicinal herbs, etc. When the food crops come to the harvest season, they take advantage of planting some flowers suitable for the soil conditions and climate such as buckwheat flowers, mustard flowers… both provide daily food and do tourism. Visitors can take pictures at the buckwheat field with a ticket price of 40,000 VND/adult; 20,000 VND/child.

According to Moc’s share, visitors should combine Bac Quang – Quang Binh – Wind Pass – Xin Man or Bac Quang – Su Phi – Xin Man – Quang Binh – Wind Pass to be able to admire the ripe rice season in Phung village, Thong Nguyen, there are many beautiful angles to take pictures.
On this trip, Moc spent 2 days and 1 night experiencing the road about 100km Bac Quang – Quang Binh – Gio Pass – Xin Man. “When I arrived in the steppe, I felt overwhelmed because of the beautiful and peaceful scenery that appeared before my eyes. Every corner is very impressive when photographed, especially the buckwheat field overlooking the hills and river.” Moc shared.

Currently, the total planned land area for the steppe area of Suoi Thau village is 146ha, including land belonging to the administrative boundary of Coc Pai town and land belonging to the administrative boundary of Nan Ma commune. Visitors should note that this area is still a wild steppe, without many services and facilities.

There are no motels near Suoi Thau steppe, so visitors can only stay in Coc Pai town (Xin Man – Ha Giang), Bac Ha district (Lao Cai) or at Ban Phung (Hoang Su Phi – Ha Giang).
